The meeting was opened at 10:00 a.m. with the Serenity Prayer. Helen
read the mission statement. Introductions were made by the attendees:

12 Traditions of OA – Helen spoke on Tradition 5. Ann volunteered
to speak on Tradition 6 at next month’s meeting.
Minutes of Last Meeting – The minutes from the March and April meetings
were read. They were amended and approved.
Treasurer’s Report – No report
Old Business –

Fundraiser 2000 – Helen mentioned that Alan has changed the website
regarding Fundraiser 2000. She will print out the new website information
and mail it out to representatives from each meeting.

Budget/Fund Raising - Greg and Kathy, both representing the Oasis
Club, were in attendance. Greg said that they had looked at the Oasis Club’s
financial situation, and the club’s monthly income has dropped 40%. Expenses
have gone down as well. Rent and utilities come to about $600. per month.
The club is breaking even right now. The Oasis Club’s board will talk next
month about club memberships. They are considering putting up displays
in the club and/ or sending mail outs to inform people of the club’s financial
situation. There is a need for the importance of membership to be explained.
Should the membership go up, the Oasis Club will be able to contribute
on a 60-30-10 basis.
Helen suggested the possibility of dues going up, an extra fund
raiser, or a form of sponsorship. Greg said he hoped to be getting back
to H.M.I. (Houston Metro Intergroup) with additional information. A discussion
followed regarding the importance of supporting the club. Mention was made
of the AA Club having more of a "club" atmosphere

Region III Unaffiliated Meetings – Helen is still looking into
this matter.

Special Events/Workshops – No report

Spring Retreats and Conventions – The flyer for Houston’s fall
convention will be mailed out soon.

Public Information – Helen said that Cary is answering phones
on Thursdays.

Office Service – Helen indicated that everything seems fine regarding
office service.

Web Report – If there are issues regarding the website, people
should contact Helen, and she will contact Alan.

Newsletter/Meeting List - The newsletter has a new editor, and
Helen will contact her. Helen will be sending out a new meeting list.

Mailing Lists- There was a discussion regarding distribution
of flyers. Carl is getting the list updated.
New Business –

June’s H.M.I. Meeting – Helen will be on vacation; Carl will
lead the June 10th meeting.

June Election of H.M.I. Officers – Elections for chairperson,
treasurer, and historian will be held at the June meeting. Helen said she
is willing to be chairperson for another term if no one else wants the
position. Lora can be reelected for another term, but Ann cannot be reelected
due to successive-term limits placed by the O.A. bylaws.
Open Forum – No discussion.
Announcements –

Helen reminded those present that there is a WSO convention in Dallas
in August, and H.M.I. is co-hosting an assembly and convention in the fall
of 2001 with the Galveston Bay Area Intergroup. These will be held at the
Flagship in Galveston at the same time. Helen explained that assemblies
are business meetings which are held every six months and occur at the
same time and place as a convention.

June’s Meeting – The next meeting will be held on June 10, 2000
at 10:00 a.m. at the Oasis Club.
Closing – The meeting was adjourned at 12:00 with the 3rd
Step Prayer.
