The meeting was opened at 10:00 a.m. with the Serenity Prayer. Helen
read the mission statement. Introductions were made by the attendees:

12 Traditions of OA – Alan spoke on Tradition 11 Susan volunteered
to speak on Tradition 12 at next month’s meeting.
Minutes of Last Meeting – The reading of the minutes from the October
meeting were postponed until the December meeting for approval.
Treasurer’s Report – Lora gave the report. (See Cash Flow Report
attached) Ann brought up a discussion regarding the phone book advertisement.
Richard had questions about the final figures from the October Convention
and any financial participation by Galveston’s GBAI.
Old Business –

Workshops (sponsorship, holiday, newcomer) – There was lengthy
discussion as to the interest and feasibility of holding a holiday workshop.
It was decided that there will be no holiday workshop this year. Several
volunteers are looking into the possibility of locations for availability
and cost for the newcomer’s marathon in January.
Delegates Report –
Region III Business Assembly – Lora referenced the Region
III Secretary’s minutes from the Fall Region III Business Assembly. The
format for 12 steps within workshops will be kept in the literature cabinet.
Mention was made of a workshop format (for members in relapse and prevention)
that is 14 weeks long and closed to new participants after the first 2
weeks.
Committee Reports –

Convention – There were questions as to the number of conventions
in the Houston area and whether, or not, next year is the Silver Anniversary
of Region III. A question was also raised regarding the location of the
HMI archives.
Lora mentioned that she thought a beach theme might be a good idea
with beach towels or tote bags offered for sale.
The 2001 Convention Committee has proposed that HOW join HMI along
with GBAI in sponsoring the event. A motion was made and passed to include
HOW.

Special Events/Workshops/Spring Retreats and Conventions – No
reservation, as yet, has been made for the Spring Retreat. The suggestion
was made to use Camp Allen instead of Cho Yeh. Other sites were discussed.
Ann volunteered to contact the people who were in charge of last year’s
Spring Retreat.

Public Information – Susan mentioned that she had compiled a
list of churches within the loop for possible future meetings.

Office Services – Helen reported that everything is fine.

HMI Website – Alan reported that there have been over 9,200 "hits"
since the site’s inception.

Newsletter/Meeting List - A suggestion was made for members to
ask for contributions of written articles for the newsletter at the end
of OA meetings. These articles can be sent to the HMI P. O. Box or e-mailed
to the OA website.

By-Laws Committee – No report.

Budget Committee – No report.

HIPM - Ann volunteered to be chair of this committee. This committee
has been combined with Public Information.
New Business –
-
World Service Business Convention 2001 – There are important
dates which need to be noted. Prior to 12/28/00, delegates and alternatives
are to be selected. Whether HMI can afford to fund 3 delegates to Albuquerque
and the requirements of service were discussed. The elections are in June.
Election of delegates will be held at the December HMI meeting.
Ann is a Region III representative, and a second one is needed.
Richard will be one for the convention held in March in Austin
There was a motion regarding HMI’s willingness to fund a third delegate.
Lora offered to "run the numbers" and e-mail them to Helen. Discussion
of this matter will be held at the December HMI meeting.

HCC Health Fair – This will be Monday, November 13th,
from 11:00 am to
2:00 pm. Most details have been handled. There was discussion of
the literature
to take to the fair. Times for various volunteers to "man" the booth
were settled.
Open Forum – None
7th Tradition – Held as usual.
Announcements – The next meeting of HMI will be Saturday, December
9, 10:00 p.m. at the Oasis Club.
Closing – The meeting was adjourned at 12:00 with the 3rd
Step Prayer.
