The meeting was opened at 10:00 a.m. with the Serenity Prayer. Helen read the mission statement. Introductions were made by the attendees:

12 Traditions of OA – Richard spoke on Tradition 10. Alan volunteered to speak on Tradition 11 at next month’s meeting.

Minutes of Last Meeting – The minutes from the September meeting will be read at next month’s meeting.

Treasurer’s Report – The report was passed out. A motion was made, seconded, and then tabled to consider the donation to WSO. There was a decision to reconsider this after the first of the year.

Old Business –

Delegates Report – Lora reported that she and Ann attended the September Assembly in Tucson, Arizona. The WSO computers crashed, and all intergroups must re-register. Also, all intergroups must send bylaws to Region III for review. Helen will do that.

The WSO lost $17,000 on the August meeting held in Dallas, as membership did not stay in the hotel where the convention was held. It would cost $58,000 to get out of the next hotel because the convention site has already been arranged. Anna K was elected as the new Region III chairperson. The next Region III Assembly is in Austin on March 2^nd through 4^th. Meetings will be at the Hilton with rooms booked next door at the Super 8. The Fall 2001 Region III Assembly will be co-hosted by Houston and Galveston intergroups at the Flagship Hotel in Galveston. Lora probably will chair. It is hoped that the Houston HOW Intergroup will also co-host. Region III will be using a professional parliamentarian at all its meetings. Ann attended the HIPA subcommittee at Region III. Ann, Carl, and Susan agreed to revive the HIPA Committee for HMI.

Helen pointed out that Region III delegates should be elected position. Concern had been expressed that delegates would be attending HMI meetings. Lora will be rotating off.

Committee Reports –

Special Events/Workshops/Spring Retreats and Conventions – Convention will be held next weekend. Plans are moving along well.

Public Information – No report

Office Services – No report

HMI Website – No Report

Newsletter/Meeting Lists - New meeting lists will be sent out with the mailings.

By-Laws Committee – No report.

Budget Committee – No report.

Literature – Lora has restocked the literature cabinet.

HIPM - No report

New Business – A Spanish-speaking meeting has been started by Marilyn and Marsha on Tuesday evenings at the Oasis Club.

Open Forum – WSBC meetings will be held on May 9-12 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. There are upcoming workshops, including a holiday workshop. Questions we raised regarding whether one could be sponsored by the meetings in the north area of the intergroupand whether, or not, a sponsors workshop be combined with the holiday workshop? Ann will contact Abigail, Sarah, and Edie regarding their possibly co-chairing the Camp Cho-Yeh Spring Retreat.

7^th Tradition – Held as usual.

Announcements – The next meeting of HMI will be Saturday, November 11, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. at the Oasis Club.

Closing – The meeting was adjourned at 12:00 with the 3^rd Step Prayer.
