12 Traditions of OA – Diane spoke on Tradition 6.

Minutes of Last Meeting – The minutes from the May meeting were amended and approved.

Treasurer’s Report – No report

Old Business – Christine needs a signature approval form for the Fall Convention bank account. The HMI secretary will prepare it and send it to Christine. There was a discussion of how to distribute the 7^th Tradition contributions being sent to HMI from groups. It was decided that a representative will explain to groups sending these contributions that the money will go into the HMI account and will be distributed periodically to WSO and Region 3.

Delegates Report – No report.

Helen read a letter from Dodie H. (Region 3 Trustee). Approximately half of the $45,000 needed to pay for the new WSO computer and software has been raised. There are special forms for contributions to this fund. Helen will send a copy of this form to each group in the quarterly mailing.

There are 3 positions open on the Region 3 board. Elections will be held at the Region 3 Assembly to be held in Galveston on October 5-7^th, 2001.

Region 3’s web page is being redesigned and is expected to be "up" by July 1^st.

Committee Reports –

• Special Events/Workshops/Spring Retreats and Conventions – Sherri requested that people send in ideas and local articles for the newsletter. She is planning a writer’s workshop and is putting together a summer edition of the newsletter, due around July, and another in September.

• Spring Retreat – Jan will be gone for 6 weeks. Information regarding her progress on the spring retreat will be forthcoming when she returns.

• Fall Convention – The next planning meeting will be held on June 30^th at 10:00 a.m. at the Oasis Club. This convention committee does not yet have an entertainment chairperson. T-shirt sales, part of the fundraising, are not available in size 4x.

• Public Information – The Region 3 HIPM committee sent a letter with suggestions for "getting the word out" about OA.  There were discussions of donation of literature and t.v. stations.

• Office Services – Phone answering is going smoothly.

• HMI Website – No report, but the website is going great.

• Newsletter/Meeting Lists – The May/June meeting list has gone out. Some incorrect information is on the list. The U.H. meeting is 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays. This group is new and is requesting support by way of attendance.

• By-Laws Committee – Alan and Helen are the committee members. Dodie sent suggested changes to HMI, which Helen has reviewed. Alan currently is reviewing them. It is hoped that the by-law changes will be available in August for acceptance.

• Budget Committee – No report

• Literature – Lora and Helen have recently placed an order.

New Business – Elections of two HMI officers were held. Helen was elected as treasurer, and Alan was elected as historian. Election of chairperson was tabled until the July 14^th meeting.

Lora will continue as treasurer for one more month in order to have time to complete the books. Helen will continue as chairperson for another month.

Open Forum – There were discussions regarding by-laws and nominating committees. Mention was made of the need to renew the domain name (oahouston.org). It is $30. per year to renew but cheaper if the name is renewed for a longer period of time.

7^th Tradition – Held as usual.

Announcements – The next meeting of HMI will be Saturday, July 14, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at the Oasis Club.
