The meeting was opened at 10:00 a.m. with the Serenity Prayer. Helen read the mission statement. Introductions were made by the attendees:

12 Traditions of OA – Ann spoke on Tradition 5. Richard volunteered to speak on tradition 6 at the June meeting.

Minutes of Last Meeting – The minutes from the March and April meetings were approved as amended.

Treasurer’s Report – No report.

Old Business –Sherri is the Bi-monthly Workshop Committee Chairperson.

Delegates Report – Helen passed out the minutes from the Region 3 Assembly from March in Austin. Carl is at WSBC.

Committee Reports –

• Special Events/Workshops/Spring Retreats and Conventions – Helen received an e-mail from Jan saying that the May Speakers’ Workshop was successful; there were 20 attendees.

• Public Information – Richard will be contacting the television stations regarding the public service announcement format they accept.

• Office Services – The quarterly mailing has gone out. There was a review of who handles the phones for each day of the week. Monday: Richard; Tuesday: Jan; Wednesday: Brian; Thursday: Jenna P.; Friday: Betty; Saturday: Sue; Sunday: Carl. Nancy will type up a list of the phone volunteers.

• HMI Website – We are at 14,000 "hits".

• Newsletter/Meeting Lists - The new list was passed around for corrections.

• By-Laws Committee – Dodie’s letter from Region 3 cited 20 items needed attention. One of the items is regarding committee formation.

• Budget Committee – No report.

• Literature – No report.

• HIPM - No report.

New Business – There was discussion about the accuracy of the WSO Meeting/Contact list.

Open Forum – Discussion of Autry House and Central Presbyterian meetings. Concern was expressed about how to best support members who are planning the Fall Region 3 Convention. Suggestion was made to contact the meeting reps. regarding requesting volunteers.

When Margot returns in August, she will personally contact each meeting rep. to see if she/he is interested in helping to find someone willing to be an intergroup rep.

David and Alan discussed setting up an e-mail list for disseminating HMI information to the Houston OA membership. Alan volunteered to set up such a list.

Chairperson, treasurer, and historian offices for HMI are up for election in June. HMI needs OA members to come to meetings to consider filling these positions.

7^th Tradition – Held as usual.

Announcements – The next meeting of HMI will be Saturday, June 9, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at the Oasis Club.

Closing – The meeting was adjourned at 11:30 with the 3^rd Step Prayer.
