Special Events/Workshops/Spring Retreats and Conventions –
Unity Day – This will be held on February 24th from
2 to 4 p.m. at the Oasis Club. Dee volunteered to chair with Jody’s help.
Dee will build a flyer and send it to all OA members with e-mail addresses.
Spring Retreat – There is, as yet, no location selected for the Spring
Retreat. Last month’s suggestions were unsatisfactory. Helen reported that
she has left voice mail at Camp Cho-Yeh and the Christian Renewal Center.
She will look into the cost and availability of the Victorian Condos in
Galveston and also will consult Joe regarding costs concerning sleeping
and meeting rooms.
Fall Convention – Prue O. at Region III has requested important
contract information from Helen. Rebecca (GBAI), Carl (HMI), and Lora (OA-HOW/HMI)
will co-chair the event to be held in fall of 2001 at the Flagship Hotel
in Galveston. Rebecca will fax a copy of the contract between HMI and the
Flagship to Prue at Region III. Someone from HMI will request that Region
III send seed money for the event. The convention committee will be meeting
at the AA Club in Webster to continue their work. The printed flyer will
be taken to Austin during next month’s convention/assembly there to spread
the word about HMI/GBAI’s fall convention 2001. There was a discussion
of the convention bank account.
Lora expressed the appreciation of OA/HOW to HMI for including HOW
on the OA website.
-
Public Information – Richard asked about which materials HMI
had to use as potential for public service announcements. He will review
these materials for usefulness.
-
Office Services – Helen mentioned that there had been a request
for OA representation at an area high school open house. Some of the OA
literature had been objectionable to the school administration due to mention
of God/Higher Power.
There has been a request for OA representation to return to Houston
Community College. A phone request was made during the past month for location
of a teen group and Spanish-speaking groups in Tomball. The caller was
told that at the present time there are no teen OA groups that meet in
the Houston area. There is a Spanish-speaking group which meets at the
Oasis Club.

over those received in January. There have been 11,500 since the website
began.

Up-dates for the meeting list information to be sent to Region
